Mechelen Station
In 2024, our museum moved after 42 years. Our new address is not always easy to find, as we are located in Mechelen station, in the Kiss & Ride zone. Please note! The station area is undergoing renovation. The situation can sometimes change from week to week. Please read this page carefully before you visit!
Address: Mechelen Station, kiss & ride zone, Koning Albertplein 2B, 2800 Mechelen.
On foot
On foot
The station is easily accessible on foot, both from the city side and the Arsenaal side. Head to NMBS Mechelen station and go to the rear. Between platforms 11 and 12, take the stairs or lift down (towards the kiss & ride zone), and you’ll find the museum entrance.
Note: Google Maps isn’t always accurate. Navigate to Mechelen Station and check the latest updates on Mechelen in Beweging. Due to construction works, part of the route inside the station leads through safe container walkways.
By bike
By bike
Coming by bike? Great choice! Mechelen station is a hub for safe cycling routes like the F1 (Antwerp-Brussels), F8 (to Leuven), F44 (to Ghent), and F18 (to Sint-Niklaas). There are several bike parkings: the largest at the Arsenaal side, a secure paid one under the Postzegelbrug, and additional racks near the bus station.
From the station, walk straight to the museum: between tracks 11 and 12, take the stairs or lift to level -1 and enter directly.
By bus (De Lijn)
By bus (De Lijn)
Many De Lijn buses stop at the front of Mechelen Station (Stationsstraat/Koning Albertplein). From there, walk through the station to the back. Between platforms 11 and 12, go down via stairs or lift to the kiss & ride zone – that’s where the museum entrance is.
De Lijn route map
Mechelen Station is easily accessible by bus from the city and surrounding towns. Check schedules on www.delijn.be or call 070 220 200 (€0.30/min).

By private coach
Coming with a coach? Set the GPS to Bautersemstraat 66, 2800 Mechelen. At that location, there’s an entry leading to the coach parking area (see photo). Groups can safely get off here.
Follow the signs: you’ll pass the ZOO Planckendael Express shelter, walk through the bike parking, and take the stairs or lift down between platforms 11 and 12 to reach the museum entrance.
Drivers are welcome to take a break in the museum and can park their coach in the designated area.
By train
By train
Take the train to Mechelen station. Walk to the back of the station towards platform 12. Keep going and take the stairs or lift down between platforms 11 and 12 to the kiss & ride zone. Follow the brown signs.
Did you know that when you buy an online museum ticket, you automatically receive an NMBS voucher code for 50% off your train ride?
By car
By car
You can park in the station’s car park. Set your GPS to Kiss & Ride station Mechelen or Parking Station Mechelen P1. Important: do not search for “Speelgoedmuseum Mechelen” in Waze or Google Maps, as the location may be inaccurate.
Access the parking and kiss & ride via the Margareta Tunnel (B101). You can drop someone off for free in the kiss & ride zone, right by the entrance. Parking is paid – don’t forget to validate your ticket at the museum desk for a discount.
The first 4 hours are 50% off; after that, standard rates apply.
The station parking is managed by Indigo – check up-to-date rates at nmbs.be.
After parking, take the stairs or lift to level -1 to enter the museum directly.
Other parking options
You can also park elsewhere in Mechelen. Options include Zandpoortvest (paid, 15-min walk) or Douaneplein (free, 20-min walk). Visit Parkeren in Mechelen or download the 2025 access plan.
