Every school outing is different, we know that at Toy Museum Mechelen too. That is why we have put together different packages so that you have enough options to plan the ideal class trip. With or without a guided tour, staying for lunch or not: it's all possible. 

Would you like to come prospecting at the museum first with your colleagues or on your own? That is possible too! If you come on a prospecting visit, you can enter the museum for free.

Practical

Per 15 pupils, 1 teacher can enter the museum for free. For every additional teacher or accompanying adult you'll pay €12.50.

Self-guided visit

Explore the museum with your group and discover toys of all generations. The pupils can put their playing skills to the test while playing various interactive games in gallery 3. Still full of energy afterwards? No worries. Gallery 4 is a fun playing universe filled with a variety of games and toys that addresses everyone's interests!

A passionate educator will guide your group through a few sections of the museum. In a fun and engaging way the children will learn what a museum does. They'll discover the collection of the museum and explore some of the interactive games.

Self-guided visit

Everyone in the group receives a wristband at the start of the visit. The wristband allows you to dive into details about the collection and to activate interesting audio fragments. In for a fun game experience? Unlock your personal avatar with your wristband and start playing throughout the levels of gallery 3! 

Apart from the game experience there are more opportunities for play during your visit. In gallery 4 you'll encounter a fun playing universe full of interactive games and toy installations. After all learning about games, toys and play is way more fun when you can put your new knowledge immediately to practice!

School session: A history of play

What does it actually mean to play? Did people play differently in the past compared to today? A play expert will guide your group through the museum and offer different perspectives that'll answer these questions. Pupils will learn more about the history of games, toys and play thanks to the collection on display as well as by interacting and discussing the topics at hand.

School session: Play, toys and development

Play is beneficial for us. It is not only a fun activity to do, but also promotes our development. During this school session, pupils discover how games, toys and play help people in developing different skills. They'll put their knowledge to practice immediately by putting their own skills to the test at various interactive play installations.

Per 15 children, 1 teacher can enter for free. For an extra teacher you pay €29.
You pay the full ticket at the partner you visit in the morning. Please note that you have to make a separate reservation with both partners.

Huisreglement voor scholen

Voorwaarden

Algemeen

  • Grote spullen en boekentassen dienen te worden achtergelaten op de daartoe aangewezen plaats.
  • Eten of drinken is enkel toegestaan in het museumcafé, en als er een knabbel of all-in pakket gekozen is.
  • Geen honden of andere huisdieren toegelaten. Knuffeldieren mogen wel binnen.
  • Het is ten strengste verboden te roken of te vapen in het hele gebouw.

Begeleiding

  • Verplichte begeleiding! Bij bezoek van scholen moeten begeleiders actief toezien op een goed verloop van het bezoek. Per 15 kinderen is 1 begeleider verplicht aanwezig.
  • Het is ten zeerste afgeraden om kinderen zonder toezicht of in te grote, onbegeleide groepjes door het museum te laten gaan.
  • De verplichte begeleiders moeten toezien op het gedrag en de veiligheid van de leerlingen.

Gedragsregels

  • Wij stimuleren spel, maar Speelgoedmuseum Mechelen is en blijft een museum. Wij verwachten van de leerlingen dat zij zich hiernaar gedragen. Hou je klasgroep binnen in het museum aan de vooropgestelde grenzen. Het museum is geen klim- of turnzaal.
  • Beperk of voorkom storende geluiden.
  • Neem geen voorwerpen mee die een risico vormen voor de veiligheid van personen, objecten of gebouwen.
  • Je wordt gestimuleerd om te spelen, maar voorwerpen ontvreemden of beschadigen hoort daar niet bij. Hiervan maken we een melding aan de politie.

Sancties

Ongepast gedrag, zoals het zonder toezicht en/of te luidruchtig rondlopen van een te grote groep, kan leiden tot de onmiddellijke verwijdering van de hele klasgroep uit het museum.
