From April to June 2025, we are exhibiting a unique piece: the oldest Game of the Goose in Flanders! This rare 17th-century piece will only be on display for three months. To celebrate this special loan, we’ve created a life-sized Game of the Goose in front of the museum – will you join the fun?
Read all the rules carefully before you begin.
- Agree in advance on the stakes (candy, tokens, money, etc.).
- Need dice? Ask at the reception desk in exchange for your ID (or driver’s license).
- Is the museum closed? Use an online dice roller set to 2 dice.
- All players start in the first space. The youngest player goes first.
- Roll the dice and move forward the number of spaces rolled.

Game Rules
If you land on the following spaces, bad luck:
- Space 6 – The Bridge: Pay the stake, or pay double and go directly to space 12.
- Space 19 – The Inn: Pay the stake and skip a turn.
- Space 31 – The Well: Pay the stake and wait until another player rescues you (by landing on the same space). Or pay double and escape on your next turn.
- Space 42 – The Maze: Pay the stake and move back 3 spaces.
- Space 52 – The Prison: Pay the stake and wait until another player rescues you.
- Space 58 – Death: Pay 3 times the stake and start over from the beginning.

Game Rules
If you land on the following spaces, good luck:
On the first dice roll:
- If you roll 3 and 6, go directly to space 26.
- If you roll 4 and 5, go directly to space 53.
- Extra rule: You can also choose to roll again if you land on space 26 or 53!
For specific spaces:
- If you land on 5-14-23-32-41-50-59 or 9-18-27-36-45-54, you may move forward again by the same number you just rolled. These numbers all share the characteristic that the sum of their digits equals 5 or 9.
The first player to reach space 63 wins!
