Come with your family
Rediscover the joy of childhood with our timeless toy collection, offering fun and engaging experiences for all ages!
We all play! Go and explore at Toy Museum Mechelen and learn all about playing and toys! Do you know how people used to play in our regions? Why do we play and what does playing mean to you?
Why not join us for a free workshop during the Easter holidays? You’ll discover all about the famous sports figures from the Top Players exhibition in a fun and interactive way. Afterwards, it’s time to get active yourself and test how good you are at sport and games. This workshop is specially designed for families with children aged 6 to 10, and takes place on weekdays during the Easter holidays, at 10.30 am and 1 pm. The workshop is included in your museum admission ticket.
Mechelen Toy Museum and Sportimonium are joining forces in the Top Players exhibition to explore the playing field between sport and games. The exhibition highlights the careers and passions of an impressive list of athletes and sports figures, including boxer Victor Schelstraete, fencer Jolien Corteyn, tennis player Dominique Monami, alpine skier Jasper Balcaen, sprinter Cédric Van Branteghem, footballer Piet den Boer, and sports anchors Tess Elst and Maarten Vangramberen.
In addition to their stories, there is plenty of space to play and/or do sports yourself. Test how many times you can jump rope in 1 minute, check how fast your reaction speed is, or transform into a true boxing hero.
The exhibition runs from 4 April to 30 August in the exhibition hall of Mechelen Toy Museum. A visit to the exhibition is included in the museum admission price. We bet this fascinating exhibition will get you moving! Ready? Go!

Blaasvoetbalspel
MuseumPASSmusées, Belgium’s largest museum pass, uses a blue sticker to indicate which museums have been deemed suitable for young visitors. The organisation bases this on visitor questionnaires. In 2026, no fewer than 76 museums will be allowed to display the sticker, including the Mechelen Toy Museum. This year, they have been officially approved by and for children.
Toy Museum Mechelen has been awarded a Michelin Star in the 2025 Michelin Guide (Travel & Culture). This recognition confirms our value as a unique, high-quality tourist destination. The official Michelin sticker is proudly displayed at our entrance. Will you come see why we’re worth the trip?
