TrAINS

Miniature trains exist in all sizes. In the museum the most frequent scales are shown in a row. From the very small 1:220 scale (trail width: 6,5 mm) to the scale of 1:22,5 (trail width: 45 mm). From this section you can see the Mechelen Nekkerspoel station. With some luck, you can see a real train (scale 1/1) go by!

The train section is more then a collection of trains shown in cases. Thanks to the special decoration you feel like a miniature figure walking in an old-fashioned train-display. The main showpiece is a Märklin-display measuring 17,8 meters with 162 meters of railway and about 150 buildings. One push on the button and the trains start moving through the landscape.

'Mobility in Flanders'

Another showpiece is the diorama ‘Mobility in Flanders’. This diorama was shown on the World Exhibition in Sevilla in 1992. With tracks and trains of the smallest scale you can get good view of the train network in Flanders. A touch screen provides more information on model trains and building train-displays.

The train section is one of the largest in the museum.
