Dolls belong among the oldest toys in the world. In almost every place and every time, girls had their dolls. In our doll section you can admire a large number of scenery’s with the most peculiar specimen. Admire the Greek dolls in terracotta, French china dolls, German dolls in celluloid and Barbie-dolls in vinyl.

Mirror of society

Dolls are a mirror of our society. These dolls show the elite fashion of the 19th century with the hoopskirt, the splendor of the twenties, the extravagant fashion of the sixties. All these beautiful dolls are displayed in a very extended section, along with the poor looking dolls from children of the lower classes.

Puppet theater

Puppet theaters existed already in 1000 BC. In China it was a manner to express their point of view regarding subjects that normally were taboo. Puppets could tell nearly whatever they wanted even in front of kings and emperors, without being pursued.

Although the first puppet theaters were meant for adults, we dedicate an extensive part of our doll section to marionettes and theaters. Of course, special attention is given to the puppets were children were supposed to play with.
